Music at Mass

Music plays an essential role in the Catholic liturgy, serving as a key element in the celebration of the mass.

At Our Lady’s, we are lucky to have a group of dedicated and skilled volunteers who enrich our weekend and feast day masses by guiding the congregation in sung prayers and hymns.

We welcome new singers and instrumentalists to join us in continuing our musical tradition. You can find contact details for some of our music groups below, or feel free to chat to members of the choirs after mass.

The Music Group

The Music Group performs during the 10am mass on the first and third Sundays of each month, with a break during the summer school holidays. They also provide music for special occasions such as Easter, Christmas, Maundy Thursday and, when possible, for Confirmations, First Holy Communion ceremonies and weddings.

With around 24 members of varying ages, the group particularly encourages young people to join, fostering their musical skills in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

The Cecilian Choir

The Cecilian Choir is a vibrant group of musicians and singers from diverse backgrounds, including young adults, long-time parishioners, seasoned musicians and beginners. The choir performs on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

Established in 2022 under the leadership of Our Lady’s former assistant parish priest, Fr. Jackson, the choir was proud to choose St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music and musicians, as their namesake.

United in Christ, they share a common goal: to honour the Lord through their music.

6pm Saturday mass

The Saturday mass Music Group was established in April 2023 by Our Lady’s former assistant parish priest, Fr. Jackson.

The group plays each week with a break in August and consists of a pianist and singers. They choose music that is easy to pick up to encourage the congregation to participate fully.  For major feasts and celebrations, they join with the other music groups. They are always open to welcoming new singers and instrumentalists.
